  • May 07, 2019
  • 7:30 PM - 10:00 PM
  • McConaghy Seniors' Centre, 10100 Yonge Street

Shari-Lyn SafirGuest Speaker: Shari-Lyn Safir
Topic: Success with Roses

This is a timely presentation for all purchasers of our society’s 100th anniversary Garden Sunshine rose, scheduled for pickup at our May 11th Plant Sale. As such, we are thrilled to have “Rosarian” (rose expert) Shari-Lyn Safir provide an overview of everything we need to know to grow roses successfully using organic techniques. To ensure Garden Sunshine is planted in an optimal manner, Shari-Lyn’s presentation will include site selection and soil conditioning.  As well, she will cover rose deadheading, pruning, fertilizing, disease and pest protection, and tips for effective winter protection.

Rosarian Shari-Lyn Safir is a Past President of the Toronto Rose Society and the National Canadian Rose Society, a master gardener and a rose judge, and has been an international judge at venues such as the World Rose Trials in California and the Old Garden Roses World Convention in Lyon, France.
